Opened in March 2022, Conch Plaza features marine Hakka culture. The design of the main building, Conch Hall, was inspired by the curved lines of a conch, while the landscape art in the courtyard is inspired by the sound of Hakka conch blowing. The design of the auxiliary building next to the main building is blended with the concept of Hakka fish farming. The overall architectural design is full of Hakka marine influence.
The Special Exhibition Room contains an abundance of Taoyuan marine cultural exhibits to acquaint the general public with the history of the early Hakka peoples’ interaction with other ethnic groups when the reclamation of the coastal area and cultural characteristics of farming and fishing developed within that environment and context.
